London, 20 April
2009: Eastern Europe
Dependency and Cure Centre in London Krystyna Walewska-Huseynov - Polish psychotherapist living and working in the UK since 1981, together with a group of professionals familiar with the concept of social responsibility, has established in London a non-profit organization under the name "Eastern Europe Dependency and Cure Centre" ( www.eedacc.org ). This organisation is the direct result of "Dependency - The Silent Bonds" the 2008 social initiative by Krystyna Walewska-Huseynov, based on her own professional experience. The main objectives of "Dependency - The Silent Bonds", are to prevent and counteract the effects of drug dependence among young Polish emigrants living in the UK. This is being carried out in consultation with representatives of local authorities in London. The objectives form the basis of the further and wider actions to be undertaken by "Eastern Europe Dependency and Cure Centre". These actions will target all those young people, not just Poles, who came and are still coming to the UK following the EU enlargement in 2004 to countries in Eastern Europe. The preventive and therapeutic actions of EEDACC will expand gradually, starting with the social problems associated with addiction, and then increasing to cover the next "traps" ranging from drugs, alcohol and nicotine to gambling, eating and shopping; all of which young vulnerable people readily fall into. |
